Incorporate your Oakville business in Ontario or federally, with a CPA reviewing the share structure for tax and family planning. Packages from $499.
Oakville incorporations are often about the long term. A consultant wants to leave surplus profit in the company and invest it. A physician or dentist needs a professional corporation approved by their college. A family wants a spouse or adult children to hold shares where the tax rules allow it. Each of these depends on getting share classes and ownership right on day one, and on knowing the limits, such as the tax on split income rules for family shareholders.
I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA. T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm practising since 2020. We incorporate Oakville businesses by phone, video and email, and our nearest office is in Mississauga at 100 Matheson Blvd E, Suite 204.
Oakville businesses we incorporate most often: consultants and owner-managers, professionals setting up a professional corporation (quoted separately), home-improvement and trades businesses, and families planning a holding company later.
Share structure and the full process are on our main incorporation services page.

| Local rule | What changes when you incorporate | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Registered office | Must be a street address in Ontario where records are kept; professionals often use their clinic or office address instead of their home. | Ontario Business Corporations Act |
| Town of Oakville business licences | The Town says most businesses need a Town licence, and a new Business Licensing By-law takes effect on January 4, 2027. We check whether it must be reissued to the company. | Town of Oakville business licence |
| Land transfer tax on property moved into the company | Usually payable even with a section 85 rollover. | Ontario land transfer tax |
Law: Municipal Act, 2001 s.151(1) (business licensing); Land Transfer Tax Act s.2(1) (Ontario land transfer tax).
An illustrative example (not a client story). An Oakville management consultant wants to incorporate and have her spouse share in the profits. We incorporate an Ontario company with separate share classes, explain how the tax on split income rules limit dividends to a spouse who isn’t active in the business (and the exceptions once the owner is 65 or the spouse works in the business), and set up the minute book so dividend resolutions are recorded each time. Minute book maintenance at $500 a year keeps the annual return and resolutions current.
Getting set up in Oakville. Oakville professionals often ask whether they can incorporate at all: physicians, dentists and lawyers who incorporate must use a professional corporation (OBCA s.3.1–3.4) (quoted separately). Other owners can get free start-up help from the Halton Region Small Business Centre on Bronte Road.

Government fees are passed through at cost: $300 to incorporate in Ontario or $200 online federally, as published on October 13, 2026 (see Ontario fees and Corporations Canada fees).
Ontario and federal corporations are taxed the same; we usually recommend Ontario for a business selling mainly in Ontario. A qualifying corporation pays 11.2% combined on its first $500,000 of active business income (9% federal plus 2.2% Ontario from July 1, 2026).
Law: Ontario Business Corporations Act s.4 (articles of incorporation); Ontario Business Corporations Act s.14 (registered office in Ontario); Canada Business Corporations Act s.105(3) (resident directors); Corporations Information Act s.3.1 (annual return); Income Tax Act s.85(1) (rollover of assets to a corporation).

Often. A corporation’s first year can end on any date within 53 weeks of incorporation, and a year-end outside your busy season can make the T2 easier and help with bonus timing.
Yes, but the tax on split income rules can tax dividends to a spouse at the top rate unless an exception applies. We explain the options before shares are issued.
$499 for incorporation only or $999 with full legal documents, plus HST/GST and government fees. Professional corporations and holding companies are quoted separately.
Yes. A professional corporation needs your regulator’s approval and limits who can own shares. We coordinate the corporate and tax side; it is quoted separately.
Not in Oakville itself. Our nearest office is in Mississauga, by appointment. Most incorporations are done online.
No. Regulated professionals who incorporate must use a professional corporation and get a certificate of authorization from their regulator, so we quote these separately after the first call.
