T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm that does bookkeeping, corporate (T2) and personal (T1) tax, GST and PST, payroll and virtual CFO work for small businesses and self-employed people across British Columbia. That includes clients in Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, Kelowna and everywhere in between. You get a flat fee before we start. Catching up books and returns that have fallen years behind is a big part of what we do.

Our offices are in Ontario, and we work with BC clients entirely online, by phone, video, text or email. Most of our BC clients have never sat in our office, and it hasn’t held anyone back: your records live in QuickBooks Online or Xero, receipts go in through Dext, and I review the file before anything is filed. I’m a member of CPA Ontario, and I’m also registered with CPA BC (#C77000292).

Accounting services for BC businesses

These are starting prices and exclude GST. You’ll get the exact figure after a free call, in writing, before we do any work.

  • Bookkeeping, from $350/month (quarterly); monthly bookkeeping from $500/month. Plans at $350 a month (quarterly bookkeeping), $500 or $700 (monthly bookkeeping), depending on how many transactions you have and how often you want reports. That covers reconciliations, GST returns, BC PST returns if you’re registered, and year-end-ready books, all reviewed by a CPA.
  • Catch-up bookkeeping and back taxes, from $1,800 per year. We rebuild missing years from your bank and credit card statements and file the overdue GST, PST and T2 returns in the right order. Personal T1 returns are quoted separately. If the CRA or the BC Ministry of Finance has sent letters, we deal with them as part of the job.
  • Corporate tax (T2) and GST, from $800. Year-end financial statements and your T2, including the BC schedules, prepared and planned by a CPA. BC corporate tax is filed on the federal T2 and collected by the CRA, so there’s no separate provincial corporate return. Nil returns for inactive corporations start at $249.
  • Personal tax (T1), from $110. For employees, self-employed people, landlords and owner-managers, with BC credits and the BC428 included. Simple slips-only returns start at $49.
  • Payroll, quoted on the call. Pay runs, CRA source deductions, T4s and ROEs, set up to BC employment standards. We also flag BC Employer Health Tax if your payroll gets close to the threshold.
  • Virtual CFO, from $2,500/month. Cash-flow forecasts, budgets, KPIs and regular strategy sessions with a CPA, without the cost of a full-time CFO.

About our fees: BC clients pay 5% GST on top of our fees. BC PST doesn’t apply to our accounting services. If you’re GST-registered, you can usually claim the GST back as an input tax credit.

Incorporation: we only offer incorporation to Ontario businesses. If you’re setting up a BC company, we can take over as soon as it’s registered and handle your books, payroll accounts, GST and PST, and your T2 every year.

Why BC owners work with T-Ledgers

Lots of firms are happy to take a tidy file. Fewer want the one where the last T2 went in three years ago and there’s a PST notice from Victoria in the inbox. I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA, and I set up T-Ledgers to take on both kinds of client.

A CPA on every file

I review the work before anything goes to the CRA. Nothing is filed without my sign-off.

Cloud tools

QuickBooks Online or Xero for the books and Dext for receipts. We take over your file or set one up.

BC tax rules that come up most

Where a figure changes often, I link the government page instead of just quoting the number. If a page and this summary ever disagree, the government page wins, and we’ll confirm the current figure for your situation on the call. Official sources checked October 2026.

  • Sales tax note: BC charges two separate sales taxes. BC currently has 5% GST, collected by the CRA, plus a separate 7% provincial sales tax (PST) run by the BC Ministry of Finance. BC doesn’t use HST. The two taxes have different registration rules, different returns and different lists of what’s taxable, so a business can owe one, both or neither. Current rates: CRA GST/HST rates page and BC PST (gov.bc.ca).
  • PST catches some services and software, not just goods. In BC, PST applies to things like software, telecommunication services and legal services, and some out-of-province sellers have to register too. It’s one of the most common things we fix in catch-up files: a business that charged GST only, or registered for PST when it didn’t need to. We check your registration status at onboarding.
  • Small business corporate rate. A Canadian-controlled private corporation in BC pays a provincial rate of 2% on the first $500,000 of active business income. Add the federal 9% and the combined rate is 11%. Income above the limit is taxed at the general rate. Current rates: CRA corporation tax rates page. Caution: the 2% rate applies only up to the $500,000 limit on active business income. Investment (passive) income earned inside a CCPC is taxed at much higher rates, and passive income over $50,000 a year grinds down the small business limit. See our guide to corporate tax rates in Canada.
  • Employer Health Tax (EHT). BC charges EHT on employers whose BC payroll goes over a $1 million annual exemption, so most small employers owe nothing. If your BC payroll is between $1 million and $1.5 million, EHT is 5.85% of the amount over $1 million; above $1.5 million, it’s 1.95% of total payroll. Associated employers share one exemption, and the annual return is due March 31. We track it as part of payroll. Details: BC Employer Health Tax (gov.bc.ca).
  • Two filings, two offices. Your T2 goes to the CRA, which also collects BC corporate tax. Separately, every BC company files an annual report through BC Registries (Corporate Online) within two months after each anniversary of its incorporation. The annual report isn’t a tax return, and not filing it can lead to the company being dissolved. Current fees and filing: BC Registries.
  • Employment standards. BC sets its own rules for vacation pay, statutory holidays and stat holiday pay, and payroll has to follow them. See statutory holiday pay in BC.

Law: Excise Tax Act s.165(1) (5% GST imposed); Income Tax Act s.125(1) (small business deduction); Provincial Sales Tax Act, SBC 2012, c.35 (BC PST); Employer Health Tax Act, SBC 2018, c.42; Employment Standards Act, RSBC 1996, c.113.

BC cities we serve

We work remotely with businesses and self-employed people right across British Columbia, including:

  • Vancouver: accountant in Vancouver and bookkeeping services in Vancouver
  • Surrey
  • Burnaby
  • Richmond: accountant in Richmond, BC
  • Victoria: accountant in Victoria
  • Kelowna: accounting in Kelowna
  • Abbotsford: bookkeeping in Abbotsford
  • Coquitlam: accounting in Coquitlam

We also work with clients in Kamloops (accounting in Kamloops), Langley, Nanaimo, Prince George and smaller towns across the province. If you have an internet connection, we can work with you.

Behind on your books? Catch-up is our speciality

If you are a few years behind, you are not unusual, and it is fixable. We start with your bank and credit card statements, rebuild the oldest year first, then file what is outstanding in the right order: GST and provincial sales tax returns, T2s and personal returns. If the CRA has sent letters or estimated assessments, we deal with them as part of the job. Penalties and interest keep growing until you file, so waiting rarely helps.

Catch-up work starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST. See catch-up bookkeeping, back tax filing and a real file in our catch-up case study.

Behind with the CRA? Voluntary disclosure

If you have unfiled returns or income you never reported, the CRA’s Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) lets you correct it before the CRA contacts you, with relief on penalties and part of the interest. Many BC owners come to us only after a CRA letter arrives; coming forward first usually gets a better result.

  • The law behind it: the CRA can waive or cancel penalties and interest for up to 10 calendar years back under Income Tax Act s.220(3.1) (income tax) and Excise Tax Act s.281.1(1) (GST/HST). The VDP is how the CRA applies that power to people who come forward.
  • Unprompted applications (no CRA contact about the issue yet) normally get 100% penalty relief and 75% interest relief. Prompted applications (after a CRA letter that names a specific error or sets a deadline) normally get up to 100% penalty relief and 25% interest relief. These rules apply to applications received on or after October 1, 2025 (CRA Information Circular IC00-1R7).
  • Who qualifies: you must apply before an audit or investigation starts, include all the corrected returns and documents, be at least one year or one reporting period past the due date, and pay the estimated tax or ask for a payment arrangement (CRA’s VDP eligibility page).

We rebuild the missing years, prepare the corrected T1, T2 and GST/HST returns, and file them with Form RC199 so the CRA reviews everything together. Pricing depends on how many years are involved and is part of our catch-up bookkeeping quote, which starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST. The CRA decides each application case by case, so relief is never guaranteed.

BC PST is run by the BC Ministry of Finance, not the CRA, so unfiled or under-reported PST is dealt with separately with the province.

Law: Income Tax Act s.150(1) (filing deadlines); Income Tax Act s.162(1) (late-filing penalty); Income Tax Act s.161(1) (interest on unpaid tax); Income Tax Act s.152(7) (assessment not dependent on return); Excise Tax Act s.238(1) (GST/HST returns).

Who we work with in BC

  • Real estate investors and landlords. Rental income, CCA, and holding companies for property owners in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
  • E-commerce and online sellers. Shopify, Amazon and payment-processor reconciliations, plus GST and BC PST on sales shipped to BC customers.
  • Construction and trades. Contractors and subcontractors, with T5018 slips, holdbacks and job costing.
  • Tech, consultants and startups. Clean books from day one, founder pay, and the personal services business risk that comes up with incorporated contractors.
  • Self-employed people. T2125 business income, GST registration once you cross $30,000, instalments, and keeping business and personal spending apart.

I started in audit at KPMG, where I learned to go back to the source and reconcile everything before anything gets filed. Since then I’ve worked as an independent contractor for a tax filing company. I’ve practised in Canada since 2020 and founded T-Ledgers in 2023.

I’m a member of CPA Ontario (#77000292), registered with CPA BC (#C77000292), and a Fellow of ACCA. You can verify my CPA Ontario membership in the public directory, or read more on our About page.

What clients say

He will explain what he’s doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**

The client portal T-Ledgers uses makes the whole process much easier than dealing with emails and PDFs back and forth. Document sharing is simple, questions get answered quickly, and you can always see where things stand. It's a modern way of handling accounting and I appreciated that.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Ontario-based, CPA-led accounting firm do my BC taxes?

Yes. BC corporate and personal tax are both filed with the CRA through the federal T2 and T1, with the BC schedules attached, and we prepare those schedules. PST returns go to the BC Ministry of Finance, and we file those too. I’m also registered with CPA BC.

How much does an accountant cost in BC?

Our flat fees are the same everywhere: bookkeeping from $350 a month (quarterly; monthly from $500), catch-up work from $1,800 per year, personal returns from $110 ($49 for a simple slips-only return), corporate returns from $800, nil T2s from $249 and Virtual CFO from $2,500 a month. Payroll is quoted after a short call. BC clients pay 5% GST on top. Our accounting fees aren’t subject to PST.

Will you match another firm's price, and how fast do you reply?

Yes to the first. Send us a comparable written quote from another Canadian CPA or bookkeeping firm for the same work and we’ll match it. As for replies, we answer within one business day, and a 24/7 receptionist picks up the phone, so a real person picks up.

Do you charge GST on your fees?

Yes. BC clients pay 5% GST on top of our fees. Our accounting fees are not subject to BC PST. If your business is registered for GST/HST, you can usually claim it back as an input tax credit.

Do you prepare SR&ED claims for BC companies?

Yes. We prepare SR&ED claims end to end: the eligibility review, project write-ups, the T661 claim form and the T2 filing, plus support if the CRA reviews the claim. Pricing depends on the claim and is quoted after a free consultation.

Do I need to register for PST as well as GST?

Possibly. They’re separate taxes with separate rules. GST registration usually kicks in once your taxable sales go over $30,000 in a single quarter or over four consecutive quarters. BC PST depends on what you sell and who you sell to, and it covers some services and software as well as goods. We’ll work out which ones apply to you on the first call.

Can you incorporate my business in BC?

We only offer incorporation in Ontario. If you’re setting up a BC company, we can take over once it’s registered and handle your books, payroll accounts, GST and PST, and your T2 every year.

Do I have to file a BC annual report as well as my tax return?

Yes. Every BC company files an annual report with BC Registries within two months after each anniversary of its incorporation. It’s a short corporate filing, separate from your T2, and people miss it all the time. We’ll remind you when it’s due so the company stays in good standing.

Can you catch up several years of unfiled returns?

Yes, it is our speciality. We rebuild the books from bank statements, file the overdue sales tax returns and T2s in the right order (personal T1 returns are quoted separately), and deal with any CRA letters. Catch-up work starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST.

Can you help me use the CRA Voluntary Disclosures Program?

Yes. We rebuild the missing years, prepare the corrected returns and file them with Form RC199. If no one at the CRA has contacted you about the issue, an application received on or after October 1, 2025 normally gets 100% penalty relief and 75% interest relief. The VDP application is quoted separately after a free review. Any catch-up bookkeeping starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST. The CRA decides each case, so relief is not guaranteed.

I already got a CRA letter. Is it too late for voluntary disclosure?

Not always. If the letter names a specific error or sets a deadline, your application is treated as prompted and normally gets up to 100% penalty relief and 25% interest relief. Once an audit or investigation has started on that issue, the VDP is closed to you, so it is worth acting quickly.
