Carrier payables, cross-border HST, US-dollar loads and thin margins handled by a CPA-led accounting firm that knows the freight business.
24/7 receptionist, a real person answers.
T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm working with Ontario freight brokers, truck dispatch services and small logistics companies, many of them in the Mississauga, Brampton and Peel corridor. Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA, has been practising since 2020. We handle bookkeeping, HST, payroll and corporate and personal tax, and every return is reviewed by a CPA.
Brokers move a lot of money for a small margin. Shipper receivables, carrier payables, quick-pay fees, factoring, US-dollar loads and different HST treatment depending on the route all need to be recorded load by load.
Rules, rates and thresholds change. We confirm the current figure for your situation on the call before relying on it.
We record each load’s shipper invoice and carrier cost together, so you can see the margin on every load, lane and customer, and spot the ones that lose money.
Whether you act as the principal on a freight service or as an agent arranging it changes how revenue is recorded and how HST works. We review your contracts and set up the books to match.
Law: Income Tax Act s.9(1) (business income); Excise Tax Act s.165 (GST/HST imposed); Excise Tax Act s.177 (supplies made by agents); GST/HST Policy Statement P-182R (agency).
Freight transportation that’s part of a continuous journey to or from Canada can be zero-rated, while domestic freight is generally taxable based on where it’s delivered. Dispatch services to non-resident carriers can also be zero-rated in some cases. We check the treatment by lane and customer.
Law: Excise Tax Act Schedule VI, Part VII (zero-rated international freight transportation); Excise Tax Act Schedule VI, Part V, s.7 (services supplied to non-residents); Excise Tax Act s.165 (GST/HST imposed).
Loads billed and paid in US dollars have to be reported in Canadian dollars. We record exchange gains and losses properly and reconcile your US-dollar accounts.
Factoring fees and quick-pay discounts are costs of doing business and are recorded separately. If a shipper doesn’t pay, a bad debt can be deducted once it’s established as uncollectible.
Many dispatchers are paid per load or as a percentage. Whether they’re employees or contractors depends on the working relationship, and it changes your payroll obligations.

I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
