Accounting services for Prince Edward Island businesses

Starting prices, all + HST/GST. You get the exact figure in writing after a free call, before any work starts.

  • Bookkeeping, from $350/month (quarterly); monthly bookkeeping from $500/month. Reconciliations, HST returns, financial statements and year-end-ready books, reviewed by a CPA.
  • Catch-up bookkeeping and back taxes, from $1,800 per year. We rebuild missing years from bank and card statements and file overdue HST returns and T2s in the right order (personal T1 returns are quoted separately), including dealing with CRA letters.
  • Corporate tax (T2), from $800. Year-end statements and your T2 with the Prince Edward Island schedules. Prince Edward Island corporate tax is collected by the CRA on the T2, so there’s no separate provincial corporate return. Nil returns from $249.
  • Personal tax (T1), from $110, with Prince Edward Island credits included. Simple slips-only returns from $49.
  • HST returns, $150 per return. Registration, filing, input tax credit review and catch-up on missed returns.
  • Payroll, quoted on the call. Pay runs, CRA source deductions, T4s and ROEs, set up to Prince Edward Island employment standards.
  • Virtual CFO, from $2,500/month. Cash-flow forecasts, budgets, KPIs and regular strategy sessions with a CPA.

About our fees: Prince Edward Island clients pay 15% HST on our fees and nothing else, because accounting services carry no separate provincial sales tax there. If you’re registered, you can usually claim it back as an input tax credit. Current rates: CRA GST/HST rates page.

Incorporation: we only offer incorporation to Ontario businesses. If you’re setting up a Prince Edward Island corporation, we can take over as soon as it’s registered.

Why Prince Edward Island owners work with T-Ledgers

Some files are tidy. Others have a T2 that went in three years ago and CRA letters in the inbox. Our team takes on both, with a CPA reviewing every file, and you get the price in writing first.

A CPA on every file

I review the work before anything goes to the CRA. Nothing is filed without my sign-off.

Flat fees in writing

You get the price before we start. If the scope changes, we agree the new price with you first.

Replies within one business day

Tell us if a CRA deadline is close and we will put it first.

Cloud tools

QuickBooks Online or Xero for the books and Dext for receipts. We take over your file or set one up.

Phone or video

We meet remotely with clients anywhere in Prince Edward Island. If you are visiting Ontario, you can book a meeting at our Mississauga office.

Hours that fit

Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET, which is 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Atlantic time.

We also match prices: send a comparable written quote from another Canadian CPA or bookkeeping firm for the same work and we will match it. A 24/7 receptionist answers the phone, so a real person picks up.

Prince Edward Island tax rules that come up most

Where a figure changes often, we link the government page. If the government page and this summary ever disagree, the government page wins. Official sources checked October 2026.

  • Sales tax: 15% HST. PEI charges 15% HST: 5% federal plus 10% provincial. HST is one tax filed with the CRA on one return, so there’s no separate provincial sales tax registration. Current rates: CRA GST/HST rates page.
  • Corporate tax. A Canadian-controlled private corporation pays 1% provincial tax on the first $600,000 of active business income (raised from $500,000 on July 1, 2025): 10% combined up to $500,000 and 16% from $500,000 to $600,000. Income above the limit is taxed at the 15% provincial general rate (reduced from 16% on July 1, 2025) plus the federal 15%, for 30% combined. PEI’s 1% small business rate is one of the lowest in Canada. Passive investment income over $50,000 a year grinds down the small business limit. Sources: CRA provincial and territorial corporation tax and our corporate tax rates guide.
  • Personal tax brackets. PEI moved to a bracket system in 2024 and added a sixth bracket for 2026, with rates from 9.5% to 20% on income over $200,000 (see CRA’s current provincial and territorial tax rates for the thresholds). PEI’s basic personal amount has been rising each year. Source: CRA income tax rates for individuals.
  • Corporate Registry. PEI corporations file an annual return with the Corporate Registry. Details: PEI Corporate and Business Registry.
  • Workers’ compensation. Most PEI employers must register with the Workers Compensation Board of PEI. Details: WCB PEI.
  • More from the province: PEI Department of Finance.

Law: Excise Tax Act s.165(1) (GST imposed); Excise Tax Act s.165(2) (HST in participating provinces); Income Tax Act s.125(1) (small business deduction); Employment Standards Act, RSPEI 1988, c.E-6.2.

Prince Edward Island cities we serve

We work remotely with businesses and self-employed people across Prince Edward Island, including:

  • Charlottetown: accountant in Charlottetown

We also work with clients in Summerside, Stratford, Cornwall, Montague and rural PEI. If you have an internet connection, we can work with you.

Behind on your books? Catch-up is our speciality

If you are a few years behind, you are not unusual, and it is fixable. We start with your bank and credit card statements, rebuild the oldest year first, then file what is outstanding in the right order: HST returns, T2s and personal returns. If the CRA has sent letters or estimated assessments, we deal with them as part of the job. Penalties and interest keep growing until you file, so waiting rarely helps.

Catch-up work starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST. See catch-up bookkeeping, back tax filing and a real file in our catch-up case study.

Behind with the CRA? Voluntary disclosure

If you have unfiled returns or income you never reported, the CRA’s Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) lets you correct it before the CRA contacts you, with relief on penalties and part of the interest. Many PEI owners come to us only after a CRA letter arrives; coming forward first usually gets a better result.

  • The law behind it: the CRA can waive or cancel penalties and interest for up to 10 calendar years back under Income Tax Act s.220(3.1) (income tax) and Excise Tax Act s.281.1(1) (GST/HST). The VDP is how the CRA applies that power to people who come forward.
  • Unprompted applications (no CRA contact about the issue yet) normally get 100% penalty relief and 75% interest relief. Prompted applications (after a CRA letter that names a specific error or sets a deadline) normally get up to 100% penalty relief and 25% interest relief. These rules apply to applications received on or after October 1, 2025 (CRA Information Circular IC00-1R7).
  • Who qualifies: you must apply before an audit or investigation starts, include all the corrected returns and documents, be at least one year or one reporting period past the due date, and pay the estimated tax or ask for a payment arrangement (CRA’s VDP eligibility page).

We rebuild the missing years, prepare the corrected T1, T2 and GST/HST returns, and file them with Form RC199 so the CRA reviews everything together. Pricing depends on how many years are involved and is part of our catch-up bookkeeping quote, which starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST. The CRA decides each application case by case, so relief is never guaranteed.

Law: Income Tax Act s.150(1) (filing deadlines); Income Tax Act s.162(1) (late-filing penalty); Income Tax Act s.161(1) (interest on unpaid tax); Income Tax Act s.152(7) (assessment not dependent on return); Excise Tax Act s.238(1) (GST/HST returns).

I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**

The client portal T-Ledgers uses makes the whole process much easier than dealing with emails and PDFs back and forth. Document sharing is simple, questions get answered quickly, and you can always see where things stand. It's a modern way of handling accounting and I appreciated that.

T-Ledgers handled my GST filing and corporate T2 together, which saved me a lot of time coordinating between different people. They understood my business quickly and flagged some bookkeeping gaps I needed to address. Took a lot of stress off my plate and I'll be using them again.

T-Ledgers made filing my corporate taxes straightforward from start to finish. Wajahat was responsive throughout the process and clearly explained what documents I needed to provide and why. The turnaround was reasonable and everything was handled professionally. I'll definitely be coming back next year and would recommend them to any small business owner looking for a reliable accountant.

I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Ontario-based, CPA-led accounting firm handle my PEI taxes?

Yes. PEI corporate and personal tax go through the CRA on the T2 and T1 with the PEI schedules, and HST is filed with the CRA as well.

How much does an accountant cost in PEI?

Our flat fees are the same everywhere: bookkeeping from $350 a month (quarterly; monthly from $500), catch-up work from $1,800 per year, personal returns from $110 ($49 for a simple slips-only return), corporate returns from $800, nil T2s from $249 and Virtual CFO from $2,500 a month. Payroll is quoted after a short call. PEI clients pay 15% HST on top of our fees. You get the exact figure in writing before we start.

Do you charge HST on your fees?

Yes. PEI clients pay 15% HST on top of our fees. If your business is registered for GST/HST, you can usually claim it back as an input tax credit.

Will you match another firm's price, and how fast do you reply?

Yes to the first. Send a comparable written quote from another Canadian CPA or bookkeeping firm for the same work and we’ll match it. We reply within one business day, and a 24/7 receptionist answers the phone, so a real person picks up.

Do you prepare SR&ED claims for PEI companies?

Yes. We prepare SR&ED claims end to end: the eligibility review, project write-ups, the T661 claim form and the T2 filing, plus support if the CRA reviews the claim. Pricing depends on the claim and is quoted after a free consultation.

What is the HST rate in PEI?

15%: 5% federal and 10% provincial, filed with the CRA on one return.

Do short-term rentals in PEI charge HST?

Often, yes. Once your taxable supplies go over $30,000, short-term accommodation is generally subject to HST, and platforms may collect some of it for you. We sort out what you owe and what the platform already paid.

Can you incorporate my business in PEI?

We only offer incorporation in Ontario. Once your PEI corporation is registered, we can take over the books, payroll accounts, HST and your T2.

What is the small business tax rate in PEI?

PEI charges 1% on the first $600,000 of active business income (raised from $500,000 on July 1, 2025), plus the federal 9%. The general rate is 15%, still among the higher rates in Canada, so planning around the $600,000 limit matters.

Can you catch up several years of unfiled returns?

Yes, it is our speciality. We rebuild the books from bank statements, file the overdue sales tax returns and T2s in the right order (personal T1 returns are quoted separately), and deal with any CRA letters. Catch-up work starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST.

Can you help me use the CRA Voluntary Disclosures Program?

Yes. We rebuild the missing years, prepare the corrected returns and file them with Form RC199. If no one at the CRA has contacted you about the issue, an application received on or after October 1, 2025 normally gets 100% penalty relief and 75% interest relief. The VDP application is quoted separately after a free review. Any catch-up bookkeeping starts from $1,800 per year + HST/GST. The CRA decides each case, so relief is not guaranteed.

I already got a CRA letter. Is it too late for voluntary disclosure?

Not always. If the letter names a specific error or sets a deadline, your application is treated as prompted and normally gets up to 100% penalty relief and 25% interest relief. Once an audit or investigation has started on that issue, the VDP is closed to you, so it is worth acting quickly.
