I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**Posted on Google![]()

The client portal T-Ledgers uses makes the whole process much easier than dealing with emails and PDFs back and forth. Document sharing is simple, questions get answered quickly, and you can always see where things stand. It's a modern way of handling accounting and I appreciated that.Posted on Google![]()

I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Hamilton files fall behind for the usual reasons: a bookkeeper leaves, the business grows, or a busy season swallows a year. What makes Hamilton backlogs distinctive is the mix: trades with job-by-job billing, manufacturers with inventory nobody counted, landlords with mixed-use buildings, and restaurants whose delivery-app deposits never matched the point-of-sale reports.
I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA. T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm practising since 2020. We work with Hamilton clients by phone, video and email, so there’s no drive up the QEW. If you’d rather meet in person, our Mississauga office at 100 Matheson Blvd E, Suite 204 is available by appointment.

| Local rule or situation | What it means for a catch-up | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| City of Hamilton business licences | Licence fees paid during the missing years are deductible. We pick them up from the statements and check that renewals weren’t missed while the books were behind. | City of Hamilton business licences |
| Hamilton Public Health food premises | Food businesses often paid for inspection-driven repairs and new equipment during the gap. We sort each cost into repairs or capital so the overdue returns claim it correctly. | Hamilton food premises requirements |
| Shop-and-apartment buildings | For a building with a commercial unit and apartments, we rebuild rent by unit and split the HST on shared costs between taxable commercial rent and exempt residential rent. | CRA: input tax credits |
Law: Municipal Act, 2001 s.151(1) (business licensing); Excise Tax Act s.141.01 (ITC allocation for mixed use); Excise Tax Act s.225(4) (time limit for claiming ITCs).
The pattern we see most in Hamilton is a contractor or fabricator two years behind, with invoices in one system, deposits in another and HST returns filed as nil or not at all. We work forward from the last filed return, match every deposit to an invoice or progress draw, and rebuild the HST month by month, claiming input tax credits on materials and equipment that are still within the time limit.
Landlords are the second big group. Many bought a lower-city or Mountain building with a commercial unit and never registered for HST, or registered and stopped filing. We work out whether registration was required, rebuild each period and file in order. If you want a fresh business plan once the books are current, the City’s free Hamilton Business Centre can help with that side.
An illustrative example (not a client story). A Hamilton renovation contractor hasn’t closed a year since 2023. Homeowners paid by e-transfer and cheque, and suppliers were paid by card. We rebuild sales from invoices and deposits, hold back deposits for work not yet done, post supplier costs to jobs, claim ITCs on materials and file the overdue HST returns. The T2 for each year is included in the per-year catch-up price.
Corporate catch-up is priced per year, and personal T1 returns are quoted separately. Full process: our catch-up bookkeeping page.
Law: Income Tax Act s.230(1) (records and books); Income Tax Act s.162(1) (failure to file penalty); Income Tax Act s.220(3.1) (waiver of penalty or interest); Excise Tax Act s.238(1) (GST/HST returns); Excise Tax Act s.88 (GST/HST waiver of penalty or interest).
