I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**Posted on Google![]()

I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Windsor has a large group of residents whose returns cross the border. Nurses, engineers and other professionals commute to jobs in Detroit and file a US return as well as a Canadian one, auto workers file with union dues and pension contributions, University of Windsor and St. Clair College students file with tuition slips, and some residents own a rental property in Michigan.
I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA. T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm practising since 2020. We work with Windsor clients by phone, video and email, with documents shared through a secure portal. Our office is in Mississauga if you’re ever in the GTA, and meetings there are by appointment.

| Local situation | How we handle it | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-border commuters | US wages are reported on your Canadian return in Canadian dollars, and the US tax paid is claimed as a foreign tax credit so the same income isn’t fully taxed twice. | CRA: federal foreign tax credit |
| The US return | Most Canadian residents working in Michigan also file a US non-resident return. We prepare the Canadian side with your US figures and coordinate with your US preparer. | IRS: Form 1040-NR |
| US rental property | Rent from a Michigan property goes on your T776 in Canadian dollars, with US tax claimed as a foreign tax credit. Foreign property over $100,000 in cost may also need a T1135. | CRA: rental income guide |
| UWindsor and St. Clair students | Tuition from the T2202 is claimed, carried forward or transferred to a parent, up to the limit. | CRA: tuition amounts |
Law: Income Tax Act s.126(1) (foreign tax credit); Income Tax Act s.233.3 (T1135 foreign property); Canada-United States Tax Convention; Income Tax Act s.118.61 (unused tuition carryforward).
For cross-border commuters, the order of filing matters. The US return usually has to be finished first, because the US tax actually paid sets the foreign tax credit on the Canadian return. We work from your W-2 and US return, convert at the right exchange rate and claim the credit, and we check US retirement plan contributions are handled correctly on the Canadian side.
Auto workers and other employees get pension contributions, union dues and other deductions checked. Families get child benefits and the Ontario Trillium Benefit claimed, and both spouses’ returns filed on time so payments aren’t interrupted.
Deadlines, penalties and relief: our personal tax page.
Law: Income Tax Act s.150(1)(d) (filing deadline); Income Tax Act s.156.1(4) (balance due); Income Tax Act s.162(1) (late-filing penalty).
