I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**Posted on Google![]()

Document sharing is simple, questions get answered quickly, and you can always see where things stand. It's a modern way of handling accounting and I appreciated that.Posted on Google![]()

I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Ottawa runs on more than government, but government shapes a lot of its small businesses. Incorporated consultants bill federal departments through standing offers and subcontracts, software and telecom firms cluster in Kanata North, clinics and professional corporations serve a large public-service workforce, and restaurants and shops fill the ByWard Market, Westboro and the Glebe. Their books need to track contracts, time and, for tech firms, SR&ED-eligible costs.
I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA. T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm practising since 2020. We work with Ottawa clients by phone, video and email, with documents shared through a secure portal. Our office is in Mississauga if you’re ever in the GTA, and meetings there are by appointment.

| Local rule or situation | How we handle it in your books | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| City of Ottawa business licences | By-law 2002-189 covers specific categories such as food premises, public garages and second-hand shops. Most consultancies are not on the list. Where a licence applies, the fee is posted when paid. | Ottawa businesses that need a licence |
| Ottawa Public Health | New food businesses give notice and get approval before opening. Fit-out and equipment costs are recorded as assets from the first month. | Ottawa Public Health: starting a food premises |
| Federal contracts | Invoices against standing offers and task authorizations are tracked by contract, with HST charged correctly and milestone payments followed to collection. | CanadaBuys (federal tenders) |
| SR&ED-ready books | For Kanata North tech firms, salaries, contractors and materials are tagged by project every month, so an SR&ED claim is supported by the books. | CRA: SR&ED program |
Law: Municipal Act, 2001 s.151(1) (business licensing); Health Protection and Promotion Act s.16(1) (food premises); Income Tax Act s.37(1) (SR&ED expenditures).
Many Ottawa clients are one- or two-person consulting corporations. The work is simple, but the stakes are not: invoices to departments or prime contractors, HST on every invoice, a home office, and a shareholder loan that needs to be clear at year-end. We reconcile it all on a quarterly or monthly schedule and keep the T2 ready.
Tech companies in Kanata get project-level tracking, deferred revenue for subscriptions and US-dollar accounts. Restaurants and retailers in the Market and Westboro get daily sales, tips and delivery-app commissions handled, and cash matched to deposits.
An illustrative example (not a client story). An Ottawa IT consulting corporation on our Growth plan bills two federal departments through a prime contractor and works from a home office in Barrhaven. Each quarter we reconcile the bank and credit card, record invoices by task authorization, track the HST charged and paid, post the home office share of costs and reconcile the shareholder loan, then file the GST/HST return.

Law: Income Tax Act s.230(1), (4) (records and books, six-year retention); Excise Tax Act s.286(1) (GST/HST records); Excise Tax Act s.169(4) (ITC documentation).
