I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**Posted on Google![]()

I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Burlington corporations tend to be established: family manufacturers and distributors, engineering and professional firms, and holding companies that own the building the business operates from or a portfolio of investments. Their T2s often involve the same questions every year: how to pay the owners, how to handle dividends between related companies, and how to keep the business ready for an eventual sale or handover.
I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA. T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm practising since 2020. We work with Burlington clients by phone, video and email. If you’d rather meet in person, our Mississauga office at 100 Matheson Blvd E, Suite 204 is about 30 minutes up the QEW, by appointment.

| Local rule or situation | How it shows up on your T2 | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Halton property in a holding company | A holding company that owns the building and rents it to the operating company can still have that rent treated as active business income in some cases. We check it every year. | Income Tax Act s.129(6) |
| No municipal land transfer tax | A Burlington property bought by a corporation carries Ontario land transfer tax only, added to its cost for CCA and the gain on a later sale. | Ontario land transfer tax |
| City of Burlington business licences | Licence fees under By-law 042-2008 are deducted in the year paid. | City of Burlington business licences |
Law: Income Tax Act s.129(4) (refundable dividend tax on hand), s.129(6) (rent from an associated company); Income Tax Act s.83(2) (capital dividends); Income Tax Act s.110.6(2.1) (capital gains exemption, small business shares); Land Transfer Tax Act s.2(1) (Ontario land transfer tax).
For Burlington family companies with a holding company on top, the T2s for both companies are prepared together. Dividends between them, refundable tax on investment income, and the capital dividend account after a tax-free gain need to line up, or money gets trapped or taxed twice.
Owners thinking about a sale or passing the business to the next generation should keep the company’s shares eligible for the lifetime capital gains exemption. We flag surplus cash and investments that could put that at risk, and plan reorganizations such as an estate freeze with you, quoted separately.
An illustrative example (not a client story). A Burlington engineering firm is owned by a family holding company. The operating company pays a dividend to the holding company, which invests it. On the two T2s we confirm the dividend is tax-free between them, track the holding company’s refundable tax on investment income, update its capital dividend account after a gain and check that the operating company’s shares still qualify for the capital gains exemption.

Yes. We prepare both from the same year-end so dividends, loans and refundable tax match. Each T2 is priced from $800, or from $249 for a nil return.
Keep the company eligible for the lifetime capital gains exemption, which usually means not holding too much surplus cash or investments. We review it each year on the T2.
From $800 + HST/GST for a simple T2 for an active corporation, and from $249 for a nil T2 with no activity at all. Non-routine work is quoted before we start.
Six months after your year-end. Any balance owing is generally due two months after year-end, or three months for qualifying Canadian-controlled private corporations.
