I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**Posted on Google![]()

The client portal T-Ledgers uses makes the whole process much easier than dealing with emails and PDFs back and forth. Document sharing is simple, questions get answered quickly, and you can always see where things stand. It's a modern way of handling accounting and I appreciated that.Posted on Google![]()

I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Toronto owners fall behind for the same reasons everyone does: a bookkeeper leaves, a busy year eats every evening, or a second location takes all the attention. What makes a Toronto backlog different is the extra layer the City adds on top of the CRA. A holding company that bought a condo may have paid the municipal land transfer tax and never recorded it properly. A residential owner may have missed a Vacant Home Tax declaration. A renovator or restaurant may have a City licence that was renewed on a personal card and never booked. We pick all of that up while we rebuild the books.
I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA. T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm practising since 2020, and our home office is on Skyway Avenue in Etobicoke, inside the City of Toronto. Most Toronto catch-up clients, from downtown and midtown to North York and Scarborough, never need to visit: you upload statements, we do the rebuild, and we talk by phone or video.
Toronto backlogs we see often: incorporated IT and marketing consultants with a few unfiled T2 years, restaurants and cafés with point-of-sale data that never matched the bank, renovation contractors with subcontractor payments and missing T5018 slips, and owners holding rental condos in a corporation.

| Local rule | What it means for a catch-up | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Vacant Home Tax declaration | Every Toronto residential owner must declare each year, even for a principal residence. A home with no declaration can be deemed vacant and charged 3% of its assessed value. When a corporation or owner-manager holds Toronto homes, we check the declaration history and record any charges correctly in the catch-up years. | City of Toronto Vacant Home Tax |
| Municipal Land Transfer Tax (MLTT) | Charged on top of Ontario land transfer tax when you buy Toronto property. Both belong in the property’s cost base. Catch-up files often show the full closing amount as one lump or as an expense, and we split it out properly. | City of Toronto MLTT |
| City of Toronto business licences | Building renovators, food businesses, personal service settings and many other types need a City licence. Fees paid personally during the missing years are still deductible business costs, so we add them back as shareholder loan credits or expenses. | Toronto licence and permit types |
Law: City of Toronto Act, 2006 s.86(1) (business licensing); City of Toronto Act, 2006 s.267(1) (City taxes, incl. MLTT and Vacant Home Tax); Land Transfer Tax Act s.2(1) (Ontario land transfer tax); Health Protection and Promotion Act s.16(1) (food premises).
An illustrative example (not a client story). A Toronto web developer incorporated in 2023, invoiced US and Canadian clients, and filed nothing after the first GST/HST return. We start from the corporate bank and credit card statements, separate the Canadian sales (13% HST) from services to non-residents that may be zero-rated, rebuild two fiscal years, file the overdue GST/HST returns and claim the input tax credits still within the time limit (generally four years; two years for large businesses and listed financial institutions). The overdue T2s are then filed from the finished books, included in the per-year price, with the years that owe tax filed first. Personal T1 returns are quoted separately.
Each step is explained on our main catch-up bookkeeping page; corporate catch-up is priced per year with the T2 included, and personal T1 returns are quoted separately. The CRA has no walk-in counters (see CRA office locations), so we deal with it for you as your representative.
Law: Income Tax Act s.230(1) and (4) (records and books, six-year retention); Income Tax Act s.150(1) (filing returns); Income Tax Act s.162(1) (failure to file penalty); Income Tax Act s.220(3.1) (waiver of penalty or interest); Excise Tax Act s.238(1) (GST/HST returns); Excise Tax Act s.225(4) (time limit for input tax credits); Excise Tax Act Sch. VI, Part V, s.7 (services to non-residents) and s.23 (advisory, professional or consulting services to non-residents).

Yes, by appointment at our Etobicoke office on Skyway Avenue, which is inside the City of Toronto, or at our Mississauga office. Most Toronto clients work with us entirely online: you upload statements and we talk by phone or video.
The same as anywhere else we work: corporate catch-up is priced per year, from $1,800 per year + HST/GST, including the bookkeeping, the GST/HST returns and the T2 filing for each year. Personal T1 returns are quoted separately. You get a fixed quote after a free review.
If your business or you as owner-manager hold Toronto residential property, yes. We check the declaration history for the catch-up years and record any charges correctly. The declaration itself is made to the City.
No. The CRA says its offices have no walk-in counter service. Catch-up issues are handled by phone, mail and online, and as your authorized representative we deal with the CRA for you.
Whether you’re three months behind or three years, the first step is the same: a free 30-minute call. We’ll look at where things stand, tell you honestly what it will take, and send a fixed price, mostly within one business day. If you have a comparable written quote, show it to us before you sign and we’ll match it.
