I highly recommend T-Ledgers. Their communication is exceptional. You won’t have to wait days for a response. Waji really takes his time to explain things in-depth with his clients. He provides the ins and outs behind every major decision. Our corporation was 2 years behind on filings and Waji and his firm got all the work done in a timely manner, as promised.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend **T Ledger's Accounting**. He has gone above and beyond for me every single time I’ve needed his help. Even when something is urgent or needs to be handled last minute, he gets it done right away and makes sure everything is taken care of properly. He’s the type of accountant you can genuinely depend on. No matter what situation you’re dealing with, he takes the time to understand it, explains what needs to be done, and handles everything with a high level of professionalism. Reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to help. It’s hard to find someone you can trust to handle important financial and accounting matters, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with T Ledger's Accounting. **Beyond highly recommended. If you’re looking for an accountant you can rely on, this is the place to go.**Posted on Google![]()

The client portal T-Ledgers uses makes the whole process much easier than dealing with emails and PDFs back and forth. Document sharing is simple, questions get answered quickly, and you can always see where things stand. It's a modern way of handling accounting and I appreciated that.Posted on Google![]()

I fully recommend Wajahat for one's tax filing needs. He will explain what he's doing and why, rather than just asking for documents and going silent, ensuring the customer is informed at every stage of the process. He is trustworthy and transparent when it comes to pricing and quality of the work for small business tax needs.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Markham has a large technology and IT sector, many incorporated consultants and professionals, and busy retail, restaurant and import businesses. A Markham backlog often has a corporation with Canadian and foreign customers, revenue arriving in more than one currency, and GST/HST that nobody was sure how to charge. Getting those years right matters, because the same books later support bank financing, an SR&ED claim or a sale.
I’m Wajahat Ajmal, CPA, FCCA. T-Ledgers is a CPA-led accounting firm practising since 2020. We work with Markham clients by phone, video and email using cloud bookkeeping, so you never need to drive across the 401. If you prefer to meet, book a meeting at our Etobicoke or Mississauga office.
Markham backlogs we see often: incorporated IT and software consultants with US clients, small software companies that want to claim SR&ED (SR&ED work is quoted after consultation), importers and retailers along Highway 7, and restaurants with delivery-app income that never matched the bank.

| Local rule | What it means for a catch-up | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| City of Markham business licences | Markham licenses specific businesses under By-law 2018-90 (food premises, personal services, public garages, public halls, second-hand goods, tobacco or vape sales) and vehicle-based businesses under By-law 2022-20. Most offices and consultancies don’t need one. Where you do, fees from the missing years are deductible. | City of Markham business licence |
| York Region Public Health | Food premises notify York Region before opening; missing start-up costs are recovered. | York Region food premises operators |
| No municipal land transfer tax | Ontario land transfer tax only; we post it to the property’s cost, not expenses. | Ontario land transfer tax |
Law: Municipal Act, 2001 s.151(1) (business licensing); Land Transfer Tax Act s.2(1) (Ontario land transfer tax); Health Protection and Promotion Act s.16(1) (food premises).
An illustrative example (not a client story). A Markham software consultant incorporated three years ago, billed one US client in US dollars and two Ontario clients in Canadian dollars, and charged HST to nobody. We rebuild each year from the bank and PayPal statements, convert the US-dollar receipts, separate services to the non-resident client that may be zero-rated from the Ontario sales that should have carried 13% HST, and calculate what is owed on the domestic sales. Before anything is filed we discuss whether a Voluntary Disclosures Program application fits, then the GST/HST returns and the T2s, included in the per-year price, are filed.
Where Markham files usually fall behind. Markham’s tech and consulting companies tend to fall behind on the details that matter for credits and grants: payroll split between development and other work, contractor invoices from overseas, and grant money received but never recorded. A grant such as Starter Company Plus, administered locally by the Markham Small Business Centre (see Markham small business grants), is generally income or a reduction of the related cost (see Income Tax Act s.12(1)(x)), so it has to be recorded properly. In a catch-up we set up the records an SR&ED claim would need later and record foreign contractor payments in Canadian dollars.
Import businesses along Highway 7 and the Woodbine corridor make up Markham’s other common backlog, with suppliers paid by wire in US dollars or RMB and freight invoices in several currencies. We convert each payment at the Bank of Canada rate for the day, separate customs duty from border GST/HST, and match each shipment to its sale.
Each step is explained on our main catch-up bookkeeping page; corporate catch-up is priced per year with the T2 included, and personal T1 returns are quoted separately. The CRA has no walk-in counters (see CRA office locations), so we deal with it for you as your representative.
Law: Income Tax Act s.230(1) and (4) (records and books, six-year retention); Income Tax Act s.150(1) (filing returns); Income Tax Act s.162(1) (failure to file penalty); Income Tax Act s.220(3.1) (waiver of penalty or interest); Excise Tax Act s.238(1) (GST/HST returns); Excise Tax Act s.225(4) (time limit for input tax credits); Excise Tax Act Sch. VI, Part V, s.7 (services to non-residents) and s.23 (advisory, professional or consulting services to non-residents).

Often not: many services supplied to non-residents can be zero-rated. Ontario clients are normally charged 13% HST. In a catch-up we separate the two for every period and work out exactly what is owed.
Corporate catch-up is priced per year, from $1,800 per year + HST/GST, including the bookkeeping, the GST/HST returns and the T2 filing for each year. Personal T1 returns are quoted separately, and SR&ED is quoted after consultation.
Yes. We rebuild the books so salaries, contractors and materials can be traced to projects, and file the T2. SR&ED work is quoted after consultation.
No. We work with Markham clients by phone, video and email. If you would rather meet, book a meeting at our Etobicoke office (102-89 Skyway Ave) or our Mississauga office.
Yes. Government grants are generally taxable or reduce the cost of what they paid for, so we record them in the year received and keep the approval letter with the books.
Whether you’re three months behind or three years, the first step is the same: a free 30-minute call. We’ll look at where things stand, tell you honestly what it will take, and send a fixed price, mostly within one business day.
